# Verification Report

**Package:** `academic-research/independent-supplement`
**Audit date:** 22 August 2026
**Result:** Pass
**Parent dossier preserved:** Yes. Every new artifact is inside the supplement directory.

## Completion statement

The supplement contains its declared essay, abstract, novelty comparison, annotated source record, structured source, case, and claim ledgers, glossary addendum, manifest, and verification report. All counts reconcile. Every structured reference resolves. No exact source URL or citation duplicates a parent-dossier source. Two initially overstated novelty claims were corrected during independent review: NC007 now identifies a stronger disciplinary and empirical grounding of the parent code/space claim, and NC010 now identifies a historically specific form of the parent care/security inversion.

## Parent-dossier intake

The parent package was read before the independent search. Its structured records were re-counted rather than accepted from the chat summary.

| Parent record | Re-counted total |
|---|---:|
| Sources | 115 |
| Cases | 42 |
| Claims | 45 |
| Glossary entries | 49 |

The parent source ledger contains 89 academic records, one authoritative NIST report, and 25 primary cultural objects. Its access labels reconcile to 17 abstract, 6 full-text, 61 metadata-only, 6 partial-text, and 25 primary-object records. The mechanism map used for the novelty gate included the threshold contract, asymmetric continuation, routing failure, recognition failure, authority afterlife, mediated return, care/security inversion, code/space, the negative boundary, and the parent repair claim.

## Independent selection method

1. The parent source, case, claim, glossary, comparative, exclusions, synthesis, abstract, and essay files were read and indexed by author, title, DOI or stable URL, case object, mechanism, and conclusion.
2. Independent searching targeted unresolved questions rather than broad topic coverage: temporal identity, model derivatives after deletion, evidentiary requirements for appeal, software-produced space, administrative burden, injurious admission, distributed borders, slow rupture, archival authorship, vendor support withdrawal, protocol revocation, and counter-infrastructure.
3. Discovery moved through disciplinary source trails in trans studies, human-computer interaction, machine learning and security, software geography, public administration, property and housing history, migration studies, carceral theory, environmental humanities, archival studies, IoT research, technical standards, and official inquiry evidence.
4. Each candidate had to supply an explanatory gain beyond the parent claim. Absence from the bibliography alone did not qualify it.
5. Full-text claims were limited to inspected text. Abstract-only and partial-text records carry narrower arguments and explicit access limits.
6. Every consequential claim separates the source finding from the supplement's inference and records counterevidence or transfer limits.

The Mackenzie and Keyes articles were inspected through full-text web delivery when direct PDF download rejected automated retrieval. Wynholds was inspected in its open full-text HTML edition. The ledger records the evidence read, not the retrieval method.

### Ledger integrity

- `source-ledger.json` parses and contains 44 unique source IDs.
- `source-ledger.csv` contains the same 44 records and the same scalar values.
- Every required source field is nonempty.
- The readable annotated ledger contains one entry for every structured source ID.
- Source-ledger SHA-256: `6183f2114fafa36a791208797a8250548d6c607ddd1368fe5e53375e0a2e0914`.

## Case and claim audit

### Cases

| Domain | Count |
|---|---:|
| Architectural or institutional | 4 |
| Technological | 4 |
| Hybrid | 3 |
| Countercase | 1 |
| **Total** | **12** |

| Classification | Count |
|---|---:|
| Core | 6 |
| Overlap | 3 |
| Reference | 2 |
| Countercase | 1 |

Every case records the carrier, threshold contract, guarantor, expected passage, active residue, mechanism, consequence, supporting sources, researcher inference, exclusion test, and limitation. Every cited source ID resolves. Case-ledger SHA-256: `10632495b08e94c3f8a5877003e8b3d445f3bcda47565b7266075bfb79aadfe6`.

### Claims

| Confidence | Count |
|---|---:|
| High | 15 |
| Medium-high | 3 |
| **Total** | **18** |

Every claim records its nearest parent claim, independent sources, cases, source finding, researcher inference, counterevidence or transfer limit, confidence, and verification status. All independent source and case references resolve. All nearest-parent references resolve to the parent claim ledger. The novelty matrix contains exactly one comparison row per claim. Claim-ledger SHA-256: `d55d57269e3e5a39dfdb103c2ec707741be3a9b60d1e480cb1eb5de74f1949f9`.

## Novelty audit

The comparison used two gates.

### Bibliographic gate

- Exact stable-URL intersections between parent and independent source ledgers: **0**.
- Exact normalized-citation intersections: **0**.
- Duplicate IDs inside or across the supplement ledgers: **0**.
- Related authors and fields were examined as conceptual comparators. Rob Kitchin, for example, appears in the parent source set through “The Real-Time City?,” while the independent set adds Kitchin and Dodge's *Code/Space* and the air-travel article. Author overlap was never treated as source duplication.

### Explanatory gate

Each claim had to do at least one of the following:

- identify a mechanism absent from the parent taxonomy;
- specify an evidentiary or terminal condition left abstract by the parent;
- relocate a known threshold across time, geography, or an authorization graph;
- provide a materially stronger canonical source and empirical case for an existing claim;
- define a bounded subtype of an existing mechanism;
- supply a countercase that prevents the theory from becoming total.

NC007 passes as a stronger disciplinary and empirical specification of the existing code/space claim. NC010 passes as a bounded subtype of care/security inversion. The other sixteen claims add a mechanism, scale, temporal condition, evidentiary requirement, or countercase. The package does not count all eighteen as new mechanism families.

## Ethical and inferential controls

- The Grenfell reports function only as official stress-test evidence for material guarantors, instruction, revocation, and evacuation. The package does not classify the fire or deaths as a horror object.
- Puar, Whyte, Hartman, Mackenzie, Wynholds, Guenther, Gilmore, and Simone retain their political, geographic, and methodological limits. Their arguments are not converted into interchangeable metaphors.
- Metadata and partial-text books do not supply invented pagination or uninspected case detail.
- The essay uses close paraphrase. Quotation marks identify source titles, established terms, labels, or interface words rather than unlocated prose excerpts.
- Counter-infrastructure remains a countercase and does not turn precarious labor into a substitute for institutional responsibility.

## Prose and presentation audit

The 4,764-word critical supplement passed the applicable long-prose gates: median sentence length 15 words; 6.60 percent of sentences at five words or fewer; 7.99 percent at thirty words or more; 7.09 colons per 1,000 words. The ending states a case-bound analytical condition rather than a portable epigram. The package contains no ornamental interface blocks or invented source theater.

## Independent review

Two read-only audits were run after drafting.

- The mechanical audit confirmed JSON validity, CSV/JSON equivalence, required fields, unique IDs, reference resolution, counts, source non-duplication, and local Markdown references.
- The content audit confirmed the principal novel findings but identified missing package reports, overstated novelty for code/space and injurious admission, and incorrect glossary evidence pointers. Those defects were corrected. The glossary now resolves to IC001–IC003 and IC005–IC012 as appropriate; the novelty matrix marks NC007 and NC010 as refinements.

## Remaining limits

This is a research supplement, not a systematic review with database-registration, duplicate independent screening, or meta-analysis. Stable URLs can change after the audit date. Several books were available only through publisher records and inspected excerpts; their ledger entries stay within that evidence. The case classifications are argued research judgments, not claims made by the cited authors. No source alone establishes “liminal horror”; the claim ledger records where the supplement performs that synthesis.
